Libraries need roadies, too: to repair old books read so much they're falling apart, to box and transport books with the love and respect they deserve, to organize books so you can find them quickly.

- Acquaintance Cards
"A novelty variant of the American calling card of the 1870s and 1880s, the acquaintance card was used by the less formal male in approaches to the less formal female. Given also as an 'escort card' or 'invitation card,' the device commonly carried a brief message and a simple illustration.... Flirtatious and fun, the acquaintance card brought levity to what otherwise might have seemed a more formal proposal. A common means of introduction, it was never taken too seriously." Encyclopedia of Ephemera (New York: Routledge, 2000), p 4.
- Bacon Ipsum
Simply put, it's a take on the lorem ipsum filler text used when doing design mockups. I was mocking up a web design one day and needed a few words to fill out a link. "Lorem ipsum bacon" popped into my head, so I plugged that into my HTML. Later that day, it hit me. Make a lorem ipsum generator but use types and cuts of meat.

Over 30 years ago I did an introduction to bookbinding course. I found bookbinding something I enjoyed and continued to do it for 10 years focusing on binding and restoration of case bound books and making boxes and slip cases. Then as life got busy I took a break from it. A few years ago I was looking at what was important to me and I realised I really missed bookbinding. Coming back to bookbinding I approached it with a different focus. I focused on the historical context of both the craft and the trade. Many things had changed and artists’ books are now very popular and conservation and restoration methods have evolved.
